Sorry i've been a bit MIA in the past week or so, its been a busy one! can u believe we are almost half way thru September? where has the year gone!?!?
Anyways, do you have a local place that you have visited so many times you know what you want before you get there? or you go there because they can't recreate that flavour you hanker for elsewhere? For me, its Albee's Kitchen. Asides it being very close to me, it serves some authentic malaysian fare, which is one of my favourite cusines.
So how many times have i been here? uhhh i honestly couldn't tell you but id say around 20 times this year? (oops!) So today's post is from a mix of visits, some of them are missing as i've forgetten to take photos of them or i don't have a decent photo of them. sorry!
Karipap (chicken curry puff)
(cold pulled tea)
I was first introduced to teh ais at Mamak and I went through a phase of trying this whenever it was on the menu. This was one of the occasions. The teh ais here is pretty good, not too sweet unlike the ones I had when I was in Malaysia, those were syrupy sweet.
Ice Cendol Kacang Merah ( Red Bean)
If I ordered this with my little cousin, she would yell “green worms!” referring to the cendol, but she would still gladly “share” the drink with me. I quite like this drink because cendol and red beans are fun to drink, its like red bean ice with a bonus!
Teh Tarik / Kopi Tarik ( Milk Tea or Milk Coffee )
The kopi and the tarik are the hot versions. These are amazing on a cold wintery night. love the frothy teh tarik!
Thick and slippery Hokkien noodles sitting in a delicious thick soup with an abundance of prawn, pork slices and veges for good measure . This bowl is seriously enough for 2 people! We ordered this one time and it fed us that night and we still had enough leftover for lunch the next day!
Butter King Prawns
Kuching Style Claypot Noodles
Black Sesame & Coconut Cake
First up was the black sesame and coconut cake, it was more a firm jelly/ pudding but the black sesame flavour was very pronounced in this, i quite like it. i may try and recreate at home.
